DINNER HONOREES

Amos and Revital Shamama

Revital and Amos Shamama
Revital and Amos Shamama were both born in Israel and moved to New York as children with their families in search of the American Dream. In 1997, the Shamamas moved to North Woodmere and immediately became a part of the Young Israel of North Woodmere family. The Shul’s warmth and small-town feel is what attracted them to this community.

Over the years, they have become famous for their kindness and hospitality throughout the entire neighborhood. Each Simchat Torah, the Shamamas enthusiastically open their home to all at their Seudah where visitors are greeted to a healthy serving of Revital’s famous Syrian Fasoulia stew and a glass or six of Amos’ whiskey. They are also generous sponsors of a lavish annual Kiddush that is always a highlight of the Chag.

Today, Amos is a successful businessman and has been the owner for over 27 years of Pizza Nosh in Brooklyn. Revital is a stay-at-home mother to their four beautiful children; Jonathan, 26, Eric, 24, married to Sarah Dahari, Dana Rochelle, 20 and Gabriel, 16. Their children all attended HAFTR. Over the years, they have become living proof of Herzl’s phrase that if you will it, it is no Dream. With their hard work and determination as well as their warm Israeli hearts, the Shamamas have created a beautiful family and life in our community.

DINNER HONOREES

Tali and Jonah Abramowitz

Tali and Jonah Abramowitz
Tali and Jonah Abramowitz moved to North Woodmere in 2004 with their three children, Karen (now married to Zecharia Rubin), Josh (now married to Hannah Harris) and Lauren from Staten Island. They soon welcomed two new additions, Jake and Eliana. They were looking for a warm and young community to join and raise their children. The Young Israel of North Woodmere was a perfect match for their growing family. The Abramowitzes consider YINW their second home and have enjoyed sharing bar mitzvahs, weddings and other simchas with their friends and neighbors.

Jonah is a successful entrepreneur and Tali is a Morah at HALB’s Lev Chana Nursery School. The Abramowitzes are renowned for their warm hospitality in always hosting Shul events and visitors to the neighborhood. Tali will never say no to hosting a good party or having extra guests at her Shabbos table.

Jonah wins the nicest guy in North Woodmere award every year, hands down, and is the only member of the ‘no talking during davening’ club. Jonah and Tali are also the youngest grandparents in the community with three grandchildren (K”H), Batsheva, Nosson Tzvi and Yosef, who all live in Israel.
